GOLF: Flintshire trio get holes in one
THREE Padeswood and Buckley members are celebrating holes in one.
Clive Jones fired his wedge tee shot at the 120-yard 14th hole into the cup.
And Jeff Matthews and Mike Ingman both achieved aces at the 130-yard 10th hole, and both used a seven-iron.
Club president, Brian Rowland, and lady president, Audrey Peters, won the Reg Davies Mixed Greensomes Trophy after posting 89-21.6=67.4.
Husband and wife, Jonathan and Dawn Tym finished second with 78-10=68, and Martin Jones and Jean Jones carded 81-10.2=70.8.
Ron Lewis Trophy: 1 Graham Owen 41 points; 2 Jack Jones 38; 3 Ian Cameron 38.
Ewloe-based golfer Adam Delves shot an impressive 72 in poor conditions on Monday to finish ninth in the Tamsel Tour event played at Pennant Park in Holywell.
Adam leads the amateur order of merit on tour and the top 10 finish gives him an invite to the next two-day event on May 19-20 at Helsby.
Success there could help his bid to pre-qualify for The Open at Royal Birkdale in July.
Lee Rooke carded a 72 to qualify for the MEN Manchester Open.
The Vale of Llangollen-based player finished two strokes inside the qualifying score of 74 at the PGA North Region east qualifying round.
Shepherd led the event with a three-under-par 69 at Northumberland club De Vere Slaley Hall.
The 23-year-old trainee assistant at the Brighouse pay-and-play course collected four birdies including three on the opening par fives before giving one back at the 16th.
But he still had two shots to spare over Phil Kelly, from St Annes Old Links, and Tyneside's Gary Vickers.
The Manchester Open is the last of four regional Order of Merit tournaments on October 7-8.
Dave Lambert compiled 38 points for victory in the CLAYS Seniors Individual Stableford, one point clear of Richard Key, with Peter Fraser in third spot on 35 points, and Brian Jones fourth with 35 points.
Clays Seniors were beaten 6-4 by Henlle Park Seniors, despite Clays players recording eight twos.
Clays director, Wyn Williams, organised the annual past captains/presidents event at Holyhead where Ray Martin carded 36 points to win and Erwin Elkin finishing second with 30 points. Erwin also won nearest the pin at the par three fourth hole.
