BLUE SQUARE NORTH - VAUXHALL MOTORS crashed to a 3-1 defeat at Workington.
The Cumbrian club avenged a 3-0 defeat at Vauxhall last month but had to come from behind to eventually take all three points.

Vauxhall got off to a flying start as home keeper Adam Collin had to make a great save following a one on one with Karl
Noon, but almost immediately the Motormen took the lead.

After just six minutes, James Holden floated over a free kick from the right and it was Noon who climbed highest to send a looping header beyond Collin and into the far corner to make it 1-0.

Workington enjoyed plenty of possession in the first half but just couldn't finish and went in at half time a goal down.

But just four minutes after the interval and Workington were level and their goal came after hitting Vauxhall on the break.

Tom Field weaved his way into the Workington penalty area but Dave Hewson made a fine challenge and played the ball to Gareth Arnison. His clever through ball was played into the path of Jonny Wright who fired home from eight yards.

Workington then took the lead on 64 minutes when Wright was the provider with a cross from the left and Arnison dived forward to head past James Coates.

Vauxhall were rocked when they trailed 3-1 just three minutes later. A free kick from Wright looked like it had gone straight into the net but it was Arnison again who nipped in to get the final touch.

Vauxhall kept going to the end but their chances were restricted to long range efforts with both Mattie Burke and Tom Field denied by keeper Collin.

VAUXHALL MOTORS: Coates, Egerton, Dames, Field, Marsh-Evans, Holmes, Holden (McCubbin) Burke, Noon (McFadden), Wright (Otogo), Noone.

Vauxhall manager Carl Macauley has handed striker Saul Otobo a trial following the player's move into the area from London. Otobo was previously with Ryman League club, Maldon Town, but has also been on the books of Hayes.

His arrival at Motors could not have been better timed given that Thomas Rooney has opted to try his luck at Unibond Premier Division outfit Witton Albion.

- Former Chester City striker Luke Beckett scored on his debut for Gainsborough Trinity in their 3-0 victory at third placed Harrogate Town.

Southport scored a 2-0 win at Solihull Moors, while Burscough delivered a 2-1 win at Redditch, and Stafford drew 2-2 at Kings Lynn.

AFC Telford grabbed a 5-0 win at bottom club Hucknall, and Gateshead secured a 6-3 win against Hyde United.
