JOHN CADWALLADER faces an emotional final game in charge of Upton AA on Saturday.
He leads out the Chester club in their last game of the Division One campaign against Runcorn Town.

He said: "Tomorrow will be my last game as manager of Upton AA and I'm sure there will be a tear in my eye.

"I've been in charge of the team for the last 15 years and in that time I've seen my two sons, John and Mark, grow up, but I feel as if I've had another 40 or 50 sons in that time.

"I've agreed to step down, but I'm sure I'll return to help put the nets down and have a pint from time to time.

"I will take charge of five games next season because Dave Fernyhough will be on duty as the Cheshire Under 18s manager on five occasions during the season.

"But it will feel strange to have the presssure off me on a Friday and all day on a Saturday when the new season kicks off."

Cadwallader is hoping to name a full strength squad for the final match against Runcorn.

He said: "We've scored 44 points so far this season which is very good for a West Cheshire Division One club.

"Some of the lads who have stepped up from the reserves and Chester and District League have done absolutely brilliant, and they have stood their ground.

"Simon Andrews has had a superb season and he's now found his way in life as he has a nice house and a baby to support.

"It would have been nice to have achieved our target of a top five league finish, but I think the highest we can now finish is sixth.

"But I'm still pleased with the season we have had after the disruption of players leaving earlier in the season.

"Runcorn will provide us with a tough test because they are a good outfit. We only lost 1-0 at their place earlier in the season, but we played well."

Christleton wrapped up their league season with a 4-1 defeat in midweek in their Division One match at Cammell Laird reserves.

The Little Heath club, who lifted the Chester FA Senior Cup after their victory over Highfield last weekend, finished their season in fifth bottom league position, while Cammell Laird reserves clinched runners-up spot, just one point behind champions West Kirby.

Christleton boss, Paul Hughes, was disappointed to see his side suffer a 4-1 defeat.

He said: "The result flattered Cammell Laird who wanted just a point to finish second in the league table.

"We were down to the bare bones but we did well and created plenty of chances in the second half.

"Cammell Laird took the lead after 35 minutes, but our attitude was fantastic.

"It was always going to be a tough match, but we equalised in the 55th minute when Paul Holifield scored from a corner.

"We then had a shaky 15-minute spell when Lairds scored goals in the 65th, 72nd and 80th minutes.

"I was pleased with the performances of Andy Shelton, Kevin Garland, Paul Holifield, Paul Armour, and youngster Ian Mitchell who impressed me in defence."

St Werburghs continued their campaign with a fine 4-0 win at Hale in Division Three, and Saints will wrap up their season at Richmond Raith Rovers, while Blacon Youth Club reserves entertain Mossley Hill Athletic.

Blacon Youth Club crashed 8-0 at New Brighton earlier this week in their final West Cheshire League Division One clash of the season.
And Christleton reserves were edged out 3-2 at home to Grange Athletic in Division Two.
