CRICKET: Tattenhall hold out as they settle for a draw
CHESHIRE LEAGUE ROUND UP: TATTENHALL held on for a draw at home to Mobberley in Division Two of the Cheshire County League.
Opening bowler Alan Brock took 5-65 and Damien Lewis scored 2-77 to help restrict the visitors to 194.
Tattenhall felt confident of reaching their target, but John Hope and Barry Mitchell were both dismissed attempting to force the pace.
Paul Kettle (74 not out) and Lewis (25) set about a rescue effort, before Paul Ferriday provided support.
But the run-rate had already become too demanding with so few wickets remaining and Tattenhall were forced to settle for a draw that could have been so much more if only somebody else had gone with him.
CHRISTLETON seconds suffered defeat in their rain-delayed match at Heaton Mersey which was reduced to a 45-over contest.
Brian Wareing took 3-45 and Steve Jackson took 1-52 off 15 overs to reduce Heaton Mersey to 178 for 6.
But Christleton struggled badly as the wicket dried out and deteriorated.
Gareth Jacobs (30) and Andy Heyland (24) top scored before Christleton were skittled all out for 96.
CHESTER COUNTY OFFICERS' scheduled match at Wilmslow was abandoned after a torrential rain storm flooded the ground.
Wilmslow are currently bottom of the League and Chester were confident of doing the double against them, but were forced to settle for seven points from the abandonment.
But Officers emerged as champions of the Sandbach Twenty20 Competition as they beat Holmes Chapel in the semi-final, and then took on Haslington, who had beaten the hosts, in the final.
Officers dismissed Haslington for 70 before romping to a seven wicket victory in 14 overs, with wicketkeeper Paul Owen named player of the day with innings of 49no and 20no.
BARROW consolidated second spot in their division of the Cheshire League with a victory at Barnton.
Mal Barrow took five wickets and Brett Balac four as Barnton were skittled out for 82.
The Barrow opening partnership of Nick Bell and Phil Noble then took the game away from Barnton with a 74-run partnership.
Barrow reached their target for the loss of just one wicket, with Bell finishing on 49 not out.
Barrow face Weaverham in the semi-final of the League 20/20 Cup on
Thursday and are then at home to Wilmslow on Saturday.
ALVANLEY'S scheduled Cheshire League match at Ashley was postponed due to an unfit ground.
Alvanley are now focusing their sights on Saturday's home match against
Trafford.
