Northop Hall's Smithy Lane has seen a number of visitors over the last four days with the club's Centenary Year in full swing.
The celebrations began on Saturday with a black tie summer ball followed by a Past Players XI v Present XI match and a Northop Band recital on the Sunday.

The MCC brought an XI to tackle a Northop Hall XI on the Monday, while a Junior Sixes compet
ition was staged for under 18s the next day with a Texas Holdem poker night held in the evening.

Wednesday saw an International Power Corporate cricket day held at the club with a Lashings World XI playing local talent at the ground today.

The year of celebrations will draw to a close with two events in September. The annual golf day on Friday 12 will be followed by a gentleman's evening at Connah's Quay Civic Hall on Friday 26.

A Centenary Yearbook will be produced at the end of the season. The book will include club history, pictures, features and statistics covering the entire history of Northop Hall Cricket Club.

The Junior Sixes Competition proved a huge success with Northop Hall triumphing by 30 runs over Boughton Hall in the final.

The competition featured U-18s from Boughton Hall, Prestatyn, Northop and Brymbo as well as Penn Cricket Club from Birmingham who are also in the middle of their centenary year.

With both teams starting on 200 runs and losing five runs per wicket, Boughton posted 235 from their innings. Northop Hall secured their success, finishing on 265.

Earlier in the week, a Northop Hall XI proved too strong for an MCC XI during a 50-overs-per-side match at Smithy Lane.

Youngster Matty Cree proved the match winner as he struck a brilliant unbeaten 102 with support from Simon Butler (68) and Alex Smith (34).

Cree's innings really took off with four overs remaining in the match. With Hall on 211-6 chasing 257 for victory heroics were needed and Cree produced them.

He smashed 34 runs off one over, including five sixes and a four, bringing up his century shortly after.

Earlier, the MCC had posted 256-4 declared.

Club chairman Paul Trickett believes that the week has been a true success.

"It has been great," said Trickett.

"Matty's knock against the MCC was brilliant and the whole occasion has been helped by the weather.

"The junior sixes competition went really well and beating an very strong MCC team was pleasing to see.

"With high temperatures predicted the whole week will hopefully stay dry and end in style at the Lashings match."
