CHESHIRE COUNTY LEAGUE PREVIEW - STEVE OGILBY believes a top three finish in the Premier Division is a realistic target for his club.
The Chester Boughton Hall skipper has been pleased with the start his side have made to their campaign and hopes to see the club rack up more important league points at Nantwich tomorrow.

He said: "The Premier Division has been getting stronger and stronger year on year, but I feel we have the team to challenge and finish in the top three.

"The big three to watch in our division this year will be Oulton Park, Bowdon, and Alderley Edge.

"Oulton Park and Bowdon always attract top players, and Alderley Edge have invested heavily this season by bringing in two Lancashire players and a talented player from the Bolton League.

"But with players like Warren Goodwin and Darren Cruickshank in our side I expect us to continue to compete and finish in a top three position."

Ogilby has been impressed with his batting order so far this term, but is still demanding big scores from players like Cruickshank and Matthew Griffiths.

He added: "I'm pleased with the thought that I can confidently change our batting order from one to seven, but I still need Darren Cruickshank and Matthew Griffiths to hit big scores and help us out.

"Matthew has been moved up the order to opening bat from number six, and I've been pleased with the performances of Freddie Owen and Warren Goodwin.

"Our bowling isn't too bad either with Alex Kegg and left-hander Neil Pearson being joined in the attack by Goodwin and Cruickshank."

Ogilby is without Eddie Roberts and Nick Massey for tomorrow's match at Nantwich, but Neil Pearson and Tom Ducker both return to the Boughton Hall side.

Ogilby said: "It was good to get back to winning ways last weekend with a four wicket win against Heaton Mersey.

"I think Nantwich will provide a stern test for us because they have a big-hitting Queenslander in Glen Batticiotto who has scored a lot of runs in the last two weeks.

"We must try and get him out early, and I'm hoping the return of Tom Ducker will help because we lacked another bowler in last week's game."

Chester Boughton Hall wrap up their weekend programme with a National Knockout Cup tie at Leyland on Sunday.

CHRISTLETON and Didsbury are likely to be called before the Cheshire Disciplinary Committee after an incident which saw the umpires reverse a decision after a batsman had walked.

Christleton travel to Cheadle tomorrow on the back of their losing draw last weekend against Didsbury, and vice-captain Matt Parkinson is hoping his side can produce some consistency throughout their batting order after a disappointing display by the tail-enders.

He said: "We played the best cricket for 80 overs, but we need to play better for the full 100 overs.

"I felt there were some decisions that didn't go our way, but we'll be determined to kick-start our season this weekend.

"We're welcoming back Simon Ratcliffe who in my opinion is the best opening batsman in our league.

"He only played four games for us last year, and was our only batsman to score 100 runs.

"Simon will open our bowling with Iroshan de Silva, which means Dave Graham will probably come into the batting at number four.

"He will be joined in the team by stand-in wicketkeeper, Andy Heyland, who has received a call-up from the seconds after the unavailability of our regular wicketkeeper, Scott Graves.

"We're also looking forward to seeing debutant Jim Bevan in the team who is a quick bowler and first team captain at Chester University, but Russ Crowley is unavailable."
