ATHLETICS: Women refuse to be blown off course
BLUSTERY conditions added to the challenge for those taking part in the Royles Deva Divas Women Only Sprint Triathlon.
Competitors faced a 750m swim, 16k cycle ride and 5k run at Manley Mere, near Chester.
First out of the water was junior, Lois Rosindale who, with an equally outstanding bike performance, put herself way beyond any challenge that could come from Kelly Crickmore of Chester Tri.
Lois crossed the line in 59 minutes four seconds, followed by Crickmore who had to settle for silver again with 1:06:02. Unattached Deborah Evans was third in a time of 1:07:26.
Local honours went to Holly Taylor of Chester Tri who won silver as second Senior in an impressive 1:09:56.
She was followed by clubmates Kate Litherland (1:15:10), Louise Cooper (1:17:38), Alison Smith (1:18:06), Jackie Negus-Fancy (1:18:49), Beverley Kew (1:19:55), Sally Parkinson (1:19:59), Amy Edwards (1:20:06), Elaine Eatwell (1:20:34), Sarah Quinan (1:20:43), Jackie Fairweather (1:20:45), Carolyn Judd (1:21:41), Jude Lloyd-Johnson (1:22:36), Kim Mason (1:24:46), Angela Green (1:25:26), Lizzy Weeks (1:29:02), Philippa Kelly (1:29:28), Stella Proctor (1:31:26), Diane Duret (1:31:59), Mary Turrell (3rd FV55+ 1:32:45), Claire Back (1:36:04), Sue Hubbard (1:37:29) and Sarah Jane Johnson (1:49:35).
