CARE home residents had to be moved to safety after a dishwasher caught fire.
Firefighters were called to Lauren Court, Shelley Road, Blacon, shortly after midnight on Wednesday after the smoke detectors sounded.
Chester Fire Station White Watch firefighter Rob Monk said the dishwasher was smouldering and the kitchen was heavily smoke-logged.
"We didn't evacuate the residents because it was too cold so we just moved them to a safe part of the building," he said. "They were okay."
Fire crews spent 45 minutes at the home. The fire was caused by an electrical fault. There was smoke damage to the kitchen and fire damage to the dishwasher.
