A TERRACOTTA Army has taken over classroom activities at a Chester school.
Pupils of St Paul's Nursery and Infant School in Boughton have been modelling with the help of professional potter Neil Glendinning.

Alongside the History of Boughton St Paul's exhibition, which is now on show in the Forum shopping centre in Northgate Street, the project was an idea of a staff member who was inspired by a visit to the Terracotta Army.

Neil has been leading the workshops and has taken time to fire, mount and display each hand-crafted figure of a child at play.

Margot Marks, acting headteacher at the school, which closes this summer, said: "The project has been a wonderful opportunity for the whole school to come together and produce a unique exhibition. Sincere thanks to Neil.

"We particularly wanted the people of Chester to share our celebration of the life of the school. Support and good wishes have been expressed to the school throughout the campaign to keep the school open.

"The exhibition at the Forum is our way of saying 'thank you'."

Margot added: "At the end of term each child will have their own figure as a reminder of their time at Boughton St. Paul's."

The exhibition can also be seen from 11am-1pm tomorrow at the school's spring fair and again on Saturday, July 12, at the school's celebration day.
