RARELY has custard been in so much demand as it was at a supermarket in Chester city centre the other day.
But money needed to be raised for a key charity so five members of staff took custard baths.

As part of a series of fundraisers for the Marie Curie Cancer Care – Tesco's Charity of the Year – a jumble sale was staged alongside the custard baths for volunteers Matty Evans, Aaron Kibbey, Dennis Wainwright, Matty Rowlands and Sally Coates. They were all prepared to sit there while customers and staff paid £1 to pour tins of custard over them.

The following day staff member Mark Davies volunteered to walk on the treadmill for as long as he could. He managed seven hours and walked 35 miles in total, raising just short of £365.

Day three of the money-making activities involved a treadmill relay from 8am until 7pm with members of staff walking or running for 30 minutes each.

And on Saturday staff were allowed to turn up to their Frodsham Square store in fancy dress.
