Caravan destroyed in suspected arson attack in Saltney

POLICE suspect arsonists set fire to a caravan which sent billows of thick black smoke into the sky.
Two fire engines were called to the caravan on Wenlock Way, off Shrewsbury Way, Saltney, at 7.30am on Monday.
Firefighters put out the blaze with hose reels and left the scene at about 8.45am.
Cheshire Police spokesman Rachel Hayes said: "We had the report at 8.50am and it is being treated as arson.
"Nobody was inside the caravan, of course if they were it would have been treated a lot more seriously."
Chester City Council became aware of the caravan being dumped on Wednesday last week.
City council spokesman Michael McGivern said: "We had not towed it away because we were gathering evidence before serving a notice on the vehicle.
"It was in one piece and then at half past seven it went up in flames.
"The caravan was in poor condition and contained a number of tyres."
Concerned residents watched as smoke billowed into the sky.
One resident said: "There was a lot of smoke and it was quite scary to watch."
The caravan was destroyed.
