A memorial service will be held on the fire-ravaged pier in Weston-super-Mare this month to celebrate the attraction's 104-year life, owners have revealed.
Most of the Grand Pier was destroyed in just 90 minutes by a massive blaze which tore through the pavilion in July.
The inter-denominational service on August 16 will commemorate the pier's place in the history of English life and offer the Somers
et town hope for the future.
The ceremony has been organised by Weston Churches Together and the pier's owners, who spent £1 million revamping the Grade II listed building before the fire.
The Rev Richard Taylor, rector of the resort's parish church of St John the Baptist, will lead the worship.
Grand Pier co-owner Michelle Michael said: "I know the pier touched the lives of a great many people and I hope this service can help everyone come to terms with what has happened and look to the future as well."
Mr Taylor said: "The pier means so much to so many people, both those who live in Weston and those who come here to visit.
"The service will remember the old pier, but also look towards the new. A key theme of Christianity is of renewal and rebirth and I think this theme will help people look towards the future of the pier in hope."
Weston's mayor, Councillor Andrew Horler, who will attend the service, added: "This service will offer people a time to remember the pier and a time to look to the future."
Meanwhile, Councillor Horler has handed over a book of condolences to the owners of the Grand Pier. He said: "I have received many letters, emails and calls from Weston and beyond, including our from twin town of Hildesheim in Germany and the Bishop of Bath and Wells."
