An investigation has been launched after a four-year-old boy dialled 999 when a fire broke out at his Liverpool home.
No-one was injured but police confirmed they are looking into the call and whether anyone else was in the building at the time.

Firefighters forced their way into the property in Long Lane, Walton, following the call at 2.35pm on Thursday.

The youngster was found in the front room and was said to be shaken but unharmed.

Croxteth watch manager Paul Kay said: "The house was smoke-logged but fortunately, through calling the emergency services, the boy has prevented a more serious fire from developing.

"He was incredibly brave but he managed to keep his cool.

"The fire crews worked well together to deal with the incident quickly."

The fire started in the kitchen and caused smoke damage to the ground and first floors.

A spokeswoman for Merseyside Police said: "Merseyside Police is investigating following a call made by a child to the emergency services."
