The Chester City boss has met his out of contract players and has started to reshape his squad in readiness for next season.

Goalkeeper Phil Palethorpe, defenders Simon Marples, and Sean Hessey, and midfielders Dean Bennett, Tony Grant, and Adam Walker, and striker Simon Yeo, have all been told by Davies that they are no longer in his future plans.

Palethorpe, who joined Chester from Tranmere Rovers two seasons ago, has failed to break his way into the first team because John Danby has shown consistently good form.

Marples made his last appearance for Chester in their 5-3 league defeat at Morecambe on Boxing Day, while Sean Hessey and Dean Bennett have been on loan at Macclesfield Town and Kidderminster Harriers respectively all season.

Tony Grant, who was signed by former Blues boss, Bobby Williamson, in pre-season, failed to earn a regular place in the Chester team and struggled with injuries towards the end of the season.

Striker, Simon Yeo's final appearance for Chester was as a substitute in City's 2-0 home defeat against Grimsby on New Year's Day.
Yeo then agreed to a loan move to Bury where he struggled to break into the first team squad.

But Davies has offered defender Kevin Sandwith and striker Chris Holroyd new deals.

Sandwith enjoyed a good run in the starting line-up at the end of the season, while Holroyd was sidelined with an injury.

Meanwhile, club owner, Stephen Vaughan, today reinforced his view that Simon Davies is the man for the job at Chester.

He said: "We now have the man for the job at Chester and I'm sure we will have a much better season.

"We have to make sure that we improve on last season's position, because we were very close to being relegated."

Vaughan also confirmed that centre half and Chester Player of the Year, Paul Linwood, was scheduled to have talks tomorrow with Davies.

Linwood is currently out of contract, but Davies is anxious to agree a new deal which will keep the defender at the club.

Meanwhile, Chester have arranged two pre-season friendlies at AFC Telford United and Southport, to be played in July.

Admission to the Vaughan East Stand, Liversage West Stand, and Harry McNally North Terrace will cost £15 for adults and £10 for concessions and under 16s.

An executive ticket for adults will cost £40 and concessions will pay £35.

Season ticket prices up to and including May 31, which includes five free games and a free car park pass for the Vaughan East Stand, Liversage West Stand, and Harry McNally North Terrace will cost £270 for adults, and £180 for concessions and under 16s.

Five free games are being offered if a season ticket is purchased between June 1 and 30, for the Vaughan East Stand, Liversage West Stand, Harry McNally North Terrace. Prices are £270 for adults and £180 for concessions and under 16s.

Three free games are included in the season ticket prices from July 1 for the Vaughan East Stand, Liversage West Stand, Harry McNally North Terrace of £300 for adults and £200 for concessions and under 16s.

An executive ticket purchased up to and including June 30 will cost £550, and if purchased from July 1 the cost will be £650.

Season ticket holders can claim their own seat up to and including May 31, after which they will go on general sale.

A car park pass which covers all League and Cup games if drawn at home, costs £50.
