Lowe keen not to reveal targets

RYAN LOWE is keeping his personal target for the new campaign under wraps.
The attacking midfielder signed for Chester from Crewe Alexandra last month and is relishing the opportunity to impress in his second spell with the Blues.

Lowe, who has signed a two-year deal with Chester, spent 18 months at the Alexandra Stadium after joining from City in January 2007.

The 30-year-old scored 12 goals in his first six months with Alex but struggled to hold down a place when Steve Holland took charge at the South Cheshire club from Dario Gradi.

Lowe said: "My goalscoring ratio is quite good – something like one goal in every three games, so I'm hoping that good form continues.

"I did well during my previous spell at Chester and I'll be trying to play to the best of my ability this time round and help the club do well.

"But I'll keep my personal goals for the season to myself because I don't want to let everyone know what my targets have been set at.

"I just know that Chester have plenty of goals in their side for the new season and that is an exciting prospect.

"We have plenty of players who can score goals with six attacking players battling for a starting place."

Lowe, who has also played for Shrewsbury, had a spell on loan with Stockport County at the end of last season.

He added: "From what I have seen so far from the squad at Chester, we have plenty of players who can create chances and score goals which is always a good sign.

"We also have a lot of young players in the squad who are willing to learn, and we have players in our squad who can score goals.

"I personally think that Chester will do well this season, but people shouldn't read too much into our showing in the pre-season friendly at Southport on Tuesday night.

"It was good to get some minutes under our belts and get a run out, but it wasn't the best of games to watch.

"No disrespect to Southport, but they tried their best on the night and the contest didn't produce a lot of football.

"But our lads are looking sharp and fit and our fitness sessions are going well in training.

"Our first two pre-season games against Southport and Vauxhall Motors were always going to act as fitness exercises, and they are cup finals to the smaller clubs, but the matches against Carlisle, Swansea, and Telford will probably give the gaffer more of an idea of his best eleven before we start the season at Dagenham and Redbridge."
