SIMON DAVIES is keen to see how his squad fair in their toughest pre-season challenge tonight.
The Chester City boss will be plotting the downfall of Championship club Swansea City managed by ex-Blues captain, Roberto Martinez.

Davies said: "It will be good to welcome Roberto back to Chester. It's been nice to see how well he's done as a coach and manager since he left us. He showed his calibre as a player and now he's a young and successful manager.

"We'll welcome the test from Swansea and I'm looking forward to seeing how we defend against a side that scored so many goals last season."

Davies revealed that centre half Paul Linwood would be sidelined tonight after sustaining a hamstring and back injury, and both Anthony Barry and James Vaughan were doubts after picking up knocks in training.

He added: "We have a few concerns, but I'm not going to risk anyone with the start of the new season just around the corner."

"Linny (Paul Linwood), and both Anthony Barry and James Vaughan should be available for our match at Telford on Saturday."

Meanwhile, Davies confirmed that striker John Murphy was still talking to Irish club St Patrick's Athletic and a deal would be completed if the player agreed personal terms.
